Useful looking website aggregating salary information for H1B job roles, which apparently must be publicly available due to filing requirements. Gets more interesting the further you scroll, with state by state mean averages, company comparisons and the like.

Now this is the type of clever recruitment marketing I can get behind - what better way to promote a CRM to recruiters other than creating a high status public database of those recruiters? Also a great way to get to know some of our community members from France. Now please do repeat the trick with other territories. Finally, I might actually use this to organise speakers / panelists for Brainfood Live, as right now I got nothing.

So members have been hammering this tool in the fb group, but I give LinkedIn all the credit for trying 👏 with the data they have. The Microsoft / LinkedIn integration has been so slow burning that we can miss what may be game changing moves. ‘Resume Assistant’ is just a taster of the near future vision of linking the desktop with the social web; not hard to imagine JD assistant coming next. Linked Helper - that chrome extension which allowed you to do all sorts of cool (*and dodgy) things on LinkedIn - more or less shut down last month with its site wide warning message that users were at risk of losing their LinkedIn accounts by continuing to use the product. PhanthomBuster seems confident that it is currently ok - here is their post explaining why and how.

LinkedIn respond to GlassDoor’s salary benchmarking service with this new feature. Data is all through sampling though LinkedIn’s sample size is going to be large enough to matter. Could be the first global salary benchmarking service.

Brexit day last Friday, so appropriate to review the 2018 Passport Index - a useful website which tells you what visas are needed where, according the passport you hold. It will need an update in 11 months time for the UK, but a useful resource now for anyone who will be internationally travelling in the meantime, or hiring for candidates who need to relo.
